A Performance and Screening Presented by the Film and Video Poetry Society
Poets Dez’mon Omega Fair and Sarah Morris interweave readings of original poetry and popularized text with 10 video screenings, kicking off the 2019 Film and Video Poetry Symposium presented by the Film and Video Poetry Society.
Dez’mon Omega Fair is an interdisciplinary artist and poet living in Long Beach, California. Fair’s work explores self-reflection and the cathartic; achieved through brushless watercolor and ink on washi, performance art, collaborative film projects, as well as experimental forms of poetry.
Sarah Morris is a Los Angeles-based performer and poet with an extensive background in theater-craft, community activism and liberation arts psychology. As a writer, she takes up the mantle of Archaeologist over Architect, attempting to dig up and resurrect that which already lives within us.
The 2019 Film and Video Poetry Symposium’s mission is to encourage film and video poets to further their ongoing explorations by providing a platform for practitioners to meet, collaborate, discuss, experiment, and maintain creative work developed through the convergence of these art forms. The Film and Video Poetry Symposium is organized by Jesse Russell Brooks, a video artist and director focusing on work that explores poetry and experimental narrative.
