October 16, 8:30 pm11:00 pm
PAM presents an evening of concert performance. Susie Kozawa performs solo, followed by a duo performance between Lori Goldston & Susie Kozawa.
Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist and composer from Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, makes full use of a lifetime of wildly divergent collaborations with film makers, dancers, composers, musicians and bands, including Earth, Nirvana, Tara Jane Oneil, Jessika Kenney, Eyvind Kang, Jherek Bischoff, Stuart Dempster, Ellen, Fullman, Lonnie Holley, the BBC Scottish Symphony, Senga Nengudi, Jon Jost, Mirah and many, many more. Her solo albums include creekside: solo cello on Mississippi Records, Film Scores on Sub Rosa and The Passion of Joan of Arc on Substrata. She performs throughout North America, Europe and Australia.
Susie Kozawa, a sound artist, composer and performer, works mostly with sound collages and site-specific installations, in which the gathering of sounds is a primary activity. She explores different acoustic spaces using musical instruments she makes out of found objects, kelp, modified toys and human voice. She creates live sound design for dance and theater productions. She was a founding member of Aono Jikken Ensemble.
