For this critical forum, Laura Stinger will open a brief space for data sharing about a methodology that seeks to access the internal wisdom and logic of the body. To access the non-binary space of body logic, no one form of knowledge will be held in higher regard than another. Inspired by “Dust House” the collaborative pedagogical project initiated by Alison Knowles based on her computer-generated poem, Stinger has invited friends Aimee Gougen, Jasmine Nyende, Shauna Steinbach, and Hazel Meyer to present in the medium of their choice. This multiplicity of presenters will share disparate information to disrupt the conventions of rational thinking.
Laura Stinger makes work in performance and sculpture that seeks to channel and trouble the feminized body and enter into a non-rational, cellular space. Her work challenges representation through queer forms of embodiment that posit the body as a radical and charged site. Laura has presented work at dixon place, nyc; PS122 nyc; pieter space, los angles; coaxial gallery, los angeles; elephant gallery, los angeles; and patravadi theater, bangkok among others.
