Artist and scholar Johanna Braun will discuss her research and work as a performer on hysteria. What does it means if artists from a queer feminist perspective reclaim such a term and consciously/unconsciously re-inscribe into those “hystories”.
Johanna Braun is an artist, curator, scholar and Erwin Schrödinger Fellow (funded by the Austrian Science Fund) at the University of California, Los Angeles, Stanford University and the University of Vienna, where she is conducting her PostDoc project “The Hysteric as Conceptual Operator” [J 4164-G24] and organizing the ongoing event series #masshysteria. Hysteria, Politics and Performance Strategies. She holds an MFA and PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and participated in numerous exhibitions and performances internationally.
